How do I know if I am suitable for LASIK?
You are likely suitable if you are aged 21 or over, have had a stable prescription for at least 12 months, and have adequate corneal thickness with a normal corneal shape. LASIK may not be suitable if you have thin or irregular corneas, severe dry eye, or participate in activities with high risk of eye trauma. The flap is repositioned and adheres naturally. The entire procedure takes approximately 15–20 minutes for both eyes, and you remain awake throughout.
Does LASIK hurt?
LASIK is not painful. The anaesthetic drops ensure you feel no pain during the procedure, only slight pressure. Afterwards, most patients experience mild grittiness or foreign body sensation for 2–4 hours, easily managed with lubricating drops. By the next day, most patients feel comfortable.
