There is no technician-performed surgery. No delegated surgical lists. Mr Mfazo Hove has performed more than 57,000 ophthalmic procedures – experience at that scale translates into judgement, fluidity and refined decision-making under pressure.
This depth of experience includes the development of 4-Minute Phaco™, a precision-based, low-trauma cataract technique refined through extensive high-volume cataract experience within a career exceeding 57,000 ophthalmic procedures. The four-minute timeframe reflects consistency and control built through repetition, not a speed target.
Volume alone does not define safety. Experience applied consistently does.

Laser planning follows the same principle, with treatment profiles reviewed against real-world outcomes.

5. When Things Are Complex, We Stay With You - At No Additional Surgical Fee
If a rare complication such as a dropped nucleus occurs, your care stays within the Blue Fin Vision® system – and the vitreoretinal surgery required to manage it is performed at no additional surgical fee. A fellow Blue Fin Vision® vitreoretinal consultant performs your vitrectomy at a partner hospital. You are never passed into an anonymous pathway or a long external waiting list. Responsibility for managing the complication remains within the Blue Fin Vision® system.
In practice:
- In-house vitreoretinal surgery at no additional surgical fee
- Taxi transport arranged and funded if travel is difficult
- Your original consultant remains involved throughout
- Your records move seamlessly within the system
- The team responsible for your first operation remains responsible for your recovery
Maintaining access to vitreoretinal capability within the same clinical system is deliberate. Including the surgery required to manage a complication at no additional surgical fee is a statement of accountability: real care is shown in what happens when surgery is not straightforward.
6. Enhancements and Refinements Within One System

7. Long-Term Care for Lens-Based Patients and Lifetime Monitoring for ICL
Lens-based vision correction has lifelong implications for the eye. The structure around it should therefore be long-term too.
For cataract and lens-exchange patients: Ongoing care focuses on macular health, IOL stability and long-term clarity, with clear protocols for managing posterior capsule opacification or late visual changes.
For ICL patients: Follow-up is explicitly lifelong and included at no charge under the ICL Lifetime Monitoring Protocol™. Annual endothelial cell counts and ICL vault measurements – surveillance worth approximately £500 per year – continue for as long as your ICL remains in place. The long-term value of ICL reversibility depends on appropriate surveillance: monitoring the eye carefully enough to identify when observation, repositioning, exchange or removal may be appropriate.
If cataract develops following ICL implantation, cataract surgery is fully covered up to the second anniversary of your ICL surgery and 50% covered after the second anniversary and up to the tenth anniversary – including a premium IOL at no extra charge, the surgery itself and hospital fees.
