If I Seek a Second Opinion, Can I Still Have My Corrective Surgery at Blue Fin Vision®?

2 min read

Yes.

Requesting a second opinion does not remove your entitlement to planned or corrective treatment.

Medicine supports independent review. It does not punish it.

If posterior capsule rupture prevented premium lens implantation or if additional corrective treatment (e.g., Sulcoflex lens or vitrectomy follow-up) is required, this pathway remains available.

If you have concerns, we request that any formal complaint is submitted in writing so that it can be fully investigated under published complaints procedures.

It is important to distinguish between:

  • A recognised surgical complication
  • Negligence

In UK law, negligence requires breach of duty and causation (Bolam principle) ¹. PCR alone does not constitute negligence; it is a known complication of cataract surgery ².

Professional standards emphasise candour, documentation, and structured resolution of concerns ³.

Seeking reassurance elsewhere does not sever the therapeutic relationship.

Trust may fluctuate after complications. Care continues.
