First Week
Gentle precautions protect the cornea.
- Keep your eyes closed in the shower and avoid directing the spray at your face.
- If products or water do enter the eyes, do not rub; allow them to rinse away and then use lubricating drops.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas, which pose higher infection risks.
- Pat around the eyes dry with a clean towel rather than rubbing.
After the First Week
Restrictions relax as comfort and stability improve.
- You can usually resume a more normal showering routine while still avoiding forceful eye rubbing.
- Check with your surgeon regarding timing for swimming and underwater activities.
- Continue any prescribed drop schedule exactly as advised.
- Report ongoing irritation, redness, or blurred vision for prompt review.
