PresbyMAX is generally not suitable if your prescription is still changing.
Why change is a problem
Laser outcomes would soon be outdated.
- Ongoing refractive shift can quickly reintroduce dependence on glasses
- May mask undiagnosed corneal disease such as keratoconus
- Raises likelihood of needing further surgery or correction
- Complicates planning for both distance and near targets
- Contradicts standard refractive safety recommendations
Preferred approach
Stabilisation comes first.
- Regular eye tests to confirm whether change is slowing or stopping
- Corneal topography to exclude ectasia or other pathology
- Temporary management with spectacles or contact lenses
- Re‑evaluation for PresbyMAX once stability is documented
- Discussion of alternative options if progression continues
