PresbyMAX is designed for presbyopic patients with low to moderate myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism within typical laser correction ranges.
Typical refractive ranges
Exact limits depend on corneal thickness and platform.
- Myopia generally up to around -7 dioptres
- Hyperopia commonly up to around +4 dioptres
- Astigmatism usually up to about 3 dioptres
- Combined spherical and cylindrical error must stay within safe ablation depth
- Prescription should be stable on repeated testing over 12-24 months
When prescriptions may not be suitable
High errors need alternative strategies.
- Very high myopia or hyperopia where tissue removal would be excessive
- Irregular astigmatism or keratoconus, where laser may worsen shape
- Eyes better served by ICL or lens replacement due to extreme prescriptions
- Fluctuating or rapidly changing refraction
- Assessment always includes detailed corneal mapping before deciding
