Is PresbyMAX surgery suitable if presbyopia has started?

< 1 min read

PresbyMAX is specifically designed for eyes where presbyopia has begun, making it suitable once near tasks start to require glasses.

Ideal timing after onset

Symptoms should be more than minimal.

  • Noticeable difficulty reading small print or phone screens at normal distance
  • Regular use of off‑the‑shelf readers or varifocals
  • Stable distance prescription
  • Healthy corneas and clear lenses on examination
  • Desire to reduce dependence on near correction rather than simply cope with it

When it may be premature

Early presbyopia does not always need surgery.

  • Very mild near changes manageable with occasional low‑power readers
  • Uncertain or fluctuating distance prescription
  • People not yet bothered enough to justify permanent corneal reshaping
  • Those still exploring simpler non‑surgical options
  • Re‑evaluation can be done later if presbyopia becomes more troublesome
