Light exercise is usually safe soon after YAG vitreolysis. Strenuous activity should be avoided for at least a day or two to let the eye settle.
Early activity
Gentle movement supports wellbeing without straining the eye. Listen to your body and stop if symptoms worsen.
- Short walks and light stretching are generally fine.
- Avoid heavy lifting, intense gym workouts, or contact sports immediately after treatment.
- Do not rub or press on your eyes during or after exercise.
- Wear sunglasses outdoors if light sensitivity persists.
- Stay well hydrated, especially if you are flying or in hot environments.
Building back to normal exercise
Most people resume usual routines within a few days. Your specialist may tailor advice based on retinal findings and overall health.
- Increase intensity gradually, watching for pain, new floaters, or blur.
- Use protective eyewear for racquet or ball sports.
- Stop and seek urgent help if you see a dark curtain, flashes, or sudden vision loss.
- Discuss specific fitness goals at follow-up appointments.
- Maintain regular eye checks to protect long-term vision.
