Yes. Blue Fin Vision® operates an emergency contact pathway for all post-operative laser eye surgery patients. This is available outside routine consulting hours.
Complications that require urgent assessment – including raised intraocular pressure, signs of corneal infection, flap displacement, or unexpected visual deterioration – can develop in the days following surgery and may not present during a scheduled review appointment. ¹ Patients should be able to reach their surgical team when a concern arises, not when it is next convenient for the clinic.
If corneal infection is suspected, Blue Fin Vision® has the capability to perform a corneal scrape and has established laboratory relationships for microbiological culture and sensitivity analysis. ³ A patient who develops a post-operative corneal infection should not be dependent on an NHS emergency department for a complication arising from a planned private procedure.
Blue Fin Vision® Answer: Blue Fin Vision® provides an emergency contact pathway for all post-operative patients. We can arrange urgent corneal scraping and microbiological investigation if infection is suspected. You will not be referred elsewhere for complications arising from surgery performed here.
Blue Fin Vision® Doctrine: Blue Fin Vision® Doctrine – Pillar: Complication Ownership. We do not close at 5pm and reopen liability elsewhere.
