Exercise after LASEK should be reintroduced gradually to protect the healing surface. Light activity is usually possible early on, while more strenuous or risky sports wait longer.
Early Activity
Gentle movement supports general recovery.
- Walking and light stretching are typically fine within a few days, if you feel comfortable.
- Avoid heavy sweating that may drip into the eyes, and use a clean headband if needed.
- Do not rub your eyes during or after exercise.
- Use lubricating drops before and after workouts if dryness is an issue.
Higher-Impact Sports
More vigorous exercise needs your surgeon’s guidance.
- Running, gym workouts, and non‑contact sports are often resumed after 1-2 weeks, depending on healing.
- Contact sports, racquet sports, and swimming are usually delayed longer and may require protective eyewear.
- Always follow personalised restrictions provided at follow‑up visits.
- Stop and seek advice if exercise causes pain, redness, or a sudden change in vision.
