Most light housework is safe relatively soon after LASEK, but dusty or strenuous tasks should wait until the surface has healed. Planning helps protect your eyes while you recover.
Light Tasks
Gentle activities are usually acceptable within a few days.
- Tasks such as tidying, simple cooking, and light washing up are often fine when you feel comfortable.
- Avoid splashes of detergent, cleaning sprays, or hot oil near the eyes.
- Use lubricating drops if your eyes feel dry during close work.
- Take frequent breaks, as vision may still fluctuate.
Heavier or Dusty Work
Leave higher‑risk chores until healing is more advanced.
- Vacuuming, deep cleaning, gardening, and DIY may expose you to dust or fumes; delay these for at least a week or as advised.
- Wear protective glasses and consider a mask when you restart heavier tasks.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes if they feel gritty; use drops instead.
- Stop and seek advice if you develop pain, redness, or a sudden drop in vision afterwards.
