Can I drive after PRESBYOND?

< 1 min read

Driving after PRESBYOND is usually permitted once your vision meets legal standards and feels comfortable, typically confirmed at an early post‑operative visit. Night‑time confidence may take longer to return.

Initial Restrictions

You must not drive immediately after surgery.

  • Arrange transport home on the day, as eyes may be hazy and light‑sensitive.
  • Your first follow‑up, often within 24 hours, checks visual acuity and healing.
  • Only resume daytime driving once your surgeon confirms that your vision is safe.
  • Use sunglasses outdoors initially if glare is troublesome.

Night Driving

Adaptation in low light can take extra time.

  • Halos and glare around lights are common in the early weeks and usually lessen with healing and neuroadaptation.
  • Limit night driving until you feel fully confident, especially on unfamiliar routes.
  • Use lubricating drops before long journeys to minimise dryness‑related fluctuation.
  • Seek review if you notice sudden blur, double vision, or a drop in confidence while driving.
