Can I drive after PresbyMAX?

< 1 min read

Driving after PresbyMAX should only resume once your distance vision meets legal standards and you feel confident with the new visual balance. This is usually checked at an early review.

Resuming Daytime Driving

Distance vision often recovers quickly.

  • Do not drive on the day of surgery; arrange alternative transport.
  • Your first post‑operative visit will typically include a vision check for driving.
  • Once cleared, start with short daytime journeys on familiar routes.
  • Use lubricating drops before longer trips if your eyes feel dry.

Night Driving and Adaptation

Complex lighting conditions may take longer to feel natural.

  • Halos or glare around lights can be more obvious initially and usually improve with neuroadaptation.
  • Consider limiting night driving until you feel fully comfortable.
  • Report persistent difficulty judging distance, ghosting, or glare so it can be assessed.
  • Regular follow‑ups ensure your visual outcome remains safe for driving.
