Can I do housework after selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)?

< 1 min read

Most light housework is safe within a day of SLT. Listening to your eyes and avoiding heavy strain helps recovery feel smooth.

Light tasks at home

Once you are back from clinic, you can usually manage simple activities. Short rest periods keep discomfort under control while the eye settles.

  • Tasks like making drinks, light cooking, and gentle tidying are acceptable.
  • Use good lighting to reduce squinting and eye strain.
  • Keep cleaning sprays and strong chemicals away from your face.
  • Lubricating drops can ease dryness during close work.
  • Ask for help if you feel tired or dazzled.

Heavier chores and safety

More demanding jobs may need a brief delay. Protecting the eye from knocks, dust, and strong fumes is the main goal.

  • Postpone deep cleaning, heavy lifting, and ladder use for a day or two.
  • Wear protective glasses when vacuuming or working in dusty areas.
  • Stop if you notice pain, new floaters, or blur.
  • Follow any activity limits given by your glaucoma team.
  • Plan chores around follow-up visits so you do not miss checks.
