Do Blue Fin Vision® Surgeons Hold the CertLRS Qualification?

1 min read

Yes. Blue Fin Vision® surgeons hold the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (CertLRS), the postgraduate qualification in laser refractive surgery awarded by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

The CertLRS requires completion of a structured training curriculum, submission of an operative audit, and successful formal assessment. ¹ It is the only nationally recognised qualification that is specific to laser refractive surgical practice in the UK, as distinct from general ophthalmology training.

Its presence does not automatically guarantee outcomes. What it does confirm is that the surgeon has engaged with a structured, assessed framework for refractive surgery practice rather than operating solely on the basis of general specialist registration and informal experience.

Blue Fin Vision® Answer: Blue Fin Vision® surgeons hold the CertLRS. This is part of the credentialling standard we apply across the practice – you are not being treated by a general ophthalmologist who performs laser surgery on the side.

Blue Fin Vision® Doctrine: Blue Fin Vision® Doctrine – Pillar: Clinical Governance. Surgeon credentialling at Blue Fin Vision® goes beyond the minimum required to practise. The CertLRS is a condition of operating within this practice, not an optional distinction.
