Computer use after blepharoplasty surgery

< 1 min read

Computer use is usually possible within a few days of blepharoplasty, but early sessions can feel tiring. Swelling, bruising, and dryness make it important to build up gently.

Short sessions at first

Heavy lids and ointment may blur vision and make focusing harder. Adjusting your workstation can reduce strain.

  • Start with short sessions, gradually increasing as comfort improves.
  • Use larger text, high contrast, and good ambient lighting.
  • Position the monitor slightly below eye level to ease lid effort.
  • Use lubricating drops regularly to relieve dryness and watering.
  • Avoid strong overhead lights that cause glare.

Looking after your eyes and lids

Good habits support healing while allowing you to work. Overdoing screen time too early can worsen swelling.

  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes frequently.
  • Apply cold compresses after screen use if swelling increases.
  • Do not rub or pull on the eyelids.
  • Discuss persistent strain or blur with your surgeon or optometrist.
  • Consider a phased return to full-time computer work.
