You can usually shower the same or next day after YAG vitreolysis. Taking a few precautions helps prevent irritation and keeps the eye comfortable.
Showering safely at first
Right after treatment, the eye may be a little sensitive. Protecting it from soap and strong water jets reduces discomfort.
- Turn your face away from the main shower spray.
- Keep your eyes closed when washing hair and rinsing.
- If soap enters the eye, rinse gently with clean water without rubbing.
- Pat around the eye lightly with a soft towel.
- Use lubricating drops afterwards if your eye feels dry or gritty.
Resuming normal routines
Restrictions can usually relax over a few days as the eye settles. Always follow any specific guidance from your clinic.
- Normal showering is fine once soreness and light sensitivity have eased.
- Avoid very hot, steamy showers if they make your eye throb.
- Continue prescribed drops on schedule after washing.
- Seek review if redness, discharge, or blurred vision appears.
- Good hygiene supports overall eye health after the procedure.
