- You need brighter lighting for reading or sewing
Distortion and monitoring
As AMD progresses, straight lines may start to look bent or wavy. Regular self-checks and eye exams help track changes.
- Use an Amsler grid or similar chart to spot new distortion
- Cover each eye separately when checking, as one may hide problems in the other
- Seek urgent review if you notice sudden distortion or a dark central patch
