You can usually shower soon after ICL surgery, but you must avoid getting water, shampoo, or soap into your eyes while they heal. This helps prevent irritation and infection.
First Week
Take extra care around the operated eye.
- Keep your eyes closed in the shower and avoid directing the spray at your face.
- If products or water enter the eye, do not rub; let them rinse away gently and then use lubricating drops.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas during this early period.
- Pat around the eyes dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing.
After the First Week
Restrictions ease as comfort and stability improve.
- You can usually return to a more normal shower routine while still avoiding vigorous eye rubbing.
- Check with your surgeon for timing of swimming and underwater activities.
- Continue all drops exactly as prescribed, including after showering.
- Report ongoing irritation, discharge, or blurred vision promptly.
