Brow lift surgery does not hurt during the operation because you are under general anaesthetic or deep sedation. Afterwards, tightness and headache-like discomfort are common but usually well controlled.
During the operation
Incisions are made in the hairline or forehead while you are asleep. Anaesthetists provide strong pain relief throughout.
- You wake with dressings or bandages in place but no memory of pain
- Pain levels are assessed regularly in recovery
- Medication is adjusted to keep you comfortable
- Numbness around the scalp is common but not usually painful
Recovery period
Over the next few days, you may feel aching, tightness, and throbbing. These symptoms normally improve steadily.
- Cold compresses and head elevation reduce discomfort
- Simple pain tablets often suffice after the first day or two
- Severe pain, especially with visual symptoms, needs urgent assessment
- Numbness can last for weeks but rarely causes pain
