What prescriptions are suitable for PresbyMAX surgery?

< 1 min read

PresbyMAX is designed for presbyopic patients with low to moderate myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism within typical laser correction ranges.

Typical refractive ranges

Exact limits depend on corneal thickness and platform.

  • Myopia generally up to around -7 dioptres
  • Hyperopia commonly up to around +4 dioptres
  • Astigmatism usually up to about 3 dioptres
  • Combined spherical and cylindrical error must stay within safe ablation depth
  • Prescription should be stable on repeated testing over 12-24 months

When prescriptions may not be suitable

High errors need alternative strategies.

  • Very high myopia or hyperopia where tissue removal would be excessive
  • Irregular astigmatism or keratoconus, where laser may worsen shape
  • Eyes better served by ICL or lens replacement due to extreme prescriptions
  • Fluctuating or rapidly changing refraction
  • Assessment always includes detailed corneal mapping before deciding
