PresbyMAX is generally suitable for adults in the typical presbyopic age range, often from the mid‑40s onward.
Preferred age window
Presbyopia should be established but not extreme.
- Most candidates are in their mid‑40s to mid‑60s
- Enough loss of near focus to notice reliance on reading glasses
- Corneas still healthy and without significant age‑related changes
- Limited or no lens opacity; cataract surgery not yet indicated
- Stable prescription over at least 12-24 months
Age‑related reasons to choose alternatives
Other procedures may suit outside this range.
- Under 40, where presbyopia is minimal and monofocal laser or ICL may be better
- Over mid‑60s with evident cataracts, where lens replacement is usually preferred
- Very early presbyopes who still manage well with minimal correction
- Patients with age‑related eye disease limiting expected benefit
- Choice guided by long‑term visual needs and lens health
