After entropion surgery, most people notice greater comfort as the eyelid returns to a safer position.
First days after surgery
The eye and lid often feel bruised, watery, and slightly tight at first. Mild discomfort is common, but strong pain is unusual and should be checked.
- Use prescribed drops and ointment exactly as directed
- Expect redness, swelling, and mild crusting along the stitches
- Sleep with the operated side uppermost if possible
- Avoid rubbing or pulling on the eyelid while it heals
- Attend your follow-up appointment even if things seem fine
Comfort and vision in the coming weeks
Vision usually remains usable, though slightly blurred from ointment and watering. As swelling settles, the lid should sit in a more comfortable, natural position.
- Use lubricating drops if the eye feels dry or gritty
- Bruising and swelling typically improve over 1-2 weeks
- Stitches, if not dissolvable, are usually removed after about one week
- Contact the clinic urgently if pain worsens or vision drops suddenly
- Most people feel the eye is safer and more comfortable as healing completes
