Most people return to work within one to two weeks after gold weight eyelid surgery, depending on comfort, appearance, and job type.
Office and light duties
Desk-based work is often possible quite soon once soreness settles and you are happy with vision. A slightly heavy-looking eyelid is normal at first.
- Many patients resume light work after about a week
- Use lubricating drops during screen time to prevent dryness
- Plan shorter days or flexible hours initially
- Avoid dusty or air-conditioned environments that irritate the eye
- Check driving standards before commuting by car
Physical or public-facing roles
Jobs involving strenuous activity or close public contact may require a longer break while bruising fades and the eyelid position settles.
- Discuss your role with the surgical team before and after surgery
- Delay heavy lifting and contact activities for at least one to two weeks
- Consider sunglasses if you feel self-conscious about early bruising
- Stop work and seek help if pain, swelling, or redness suddenly worsen
- Review your return-to-work plan at follow-up appointments
