Most people return to work within one to two weeks after entropion surgery, depending on healing and job type.
Office and light duties
Desk-based work is often possible fairly soon once discomfort and swelling begin to ease. Allow extra breaks while the eye is still sensitive.
- Many people feel ready for light duties after about a week
- Use lubricating drops regularly during screen work
- Arrange flexible hours for the first few days back
- Avoid dusty, smoky environments that may irritate the eye
- Check with your surgeon before driving to work
Physical or outdoor work
More physical roles, or jobs with higher eye risk, may need a longer break. Protecting the eyelid and stitches is the priority.
- Heavy lifting or bending may be limited for at least one to two weeks
- Wear protective eyewear if there is risk of particles or impact
- Discuss specific duties with your surgical team beforehand
- Do not return if pain, redness, or swelling suddenly increase
- Plan a gradual build-up of hours as your comfort improves
