Return to work after brow lift surgery

< 1 min read

Most people return to work one to two weeks after brow lift surgery, depending on bruising, swelling, and job demands.

Office and light duties

Desk-based work is often possible once pain is controlled and vision feels steady. Visible bruising may still be present but can be disguised with make-up when wounds have healed.

  • Many patients resume light work after about 10-14 days
  • Use lubricating drops during screen use to ease dryness
  • Plan shorter days or a phased return if possible
  • Avoid strongly air-conditioned or very hot environments initially
  • Check driving suitability before commuting by car

Physical or public-facing roles

Jobs involving heavy lifting, helmets, or close public contact may need a longer break. Protecting your forehead and achieving a natural appearance are important.

  • Discuss your role with the surgical team before and after surgery
  • Delay strenuous work and contact activities for several weeks
  • Use hats or gentle camouflage once scars are healed and approved for sun exposure
  • Stop work and seek help if pain, swelling, or headaches suddenly worsen
  • Agree a personalised return-to-work plan at follow-up
