Computer use after YAG laser iridotomy

< 1 min read

Computer use is usually possible within a day of YAG iridotomy. However, early light sensitivity and mild blur can make screens uncomfortable, so gradual return is wise.

First days at the screen

Dilating drops and glare from lights can strain your eyes. Adapting your set-up helps you work more comfortably.

  • Start with short sessions and increase time as comfort allows.
  • Use larger text, high contrast, and good ambient lighting.
  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes regularly.
  • Keep the monitor slightly below eye level to reduce exposure.
  • Use lubricating drops before and during screen work.

Managing symptoms and safety

Most people adapt quickly over a few days. Ongoing discomfort should be discussed with your eye specialist.

  • Persistent haloes, double vision, or headache may need review.
  • Ensure your glasses prescription is up to date for screen distance.
  • Take frequent breaks if you work long hours at a computer.
  • Adjust brightness to avoid harsh glare, especially in dark rooms.
  • Keep up with glaucoma follow-ups, even when vision feels normal.
