Computer use after selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)

< 1 min read

Computer use is usually safe within a day of SLT. However, screens can aggravate temporary dryness or mild soreness, so gradual return is sensible.

Using screens in the first days

Right after the procedure, drops and bright clinic lights may blur vision. Waiting until sight feels reasonably clear makes early screen work easier.

  • Begin with short sessions of ten to twenty minutes.
  • Increase font size and contrast for comfortable reading.
  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes regularly.
  • Keep the monitor slightly below eye level to reduce surface exposure.
  • Close curtains or adjust lighting to minimise glare.

Looking after your eyes longer term

Simple habits help keep eyes comfortable during longer computer days. They also support healthy pressure control and tear film.

  • Use preservative-free lubricating drops as recommended.
  • Remember to blink fully, especially when concentrating.
  • Take regular breaks to move and look into the distance.
  • Report persistent blur, ache, or headaches to your clinician.
  • Ensure your glasses prescription is up to date for screen distance.
