Computer use after eyelid surgery

< 1 min read

Computer use after eyelid surgery is usually possible within several days, but swelling, dryness, and fatigue can make screens uncomfortable at first.

Starting gently with screens

Once pain is manageable and you can open your eyes comfortably, short computer sessions are often fine. Build up time gradually.

  • Begin with brief periods of work, then increase as comfort allows
  • Use lubricating drops regularly during screen use
  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes
  • Increase font size and adjust brightness to reduce effort
  • Stop if your eyes become very sore or heavy

Protecting healing eyelids while working

Good workstation habits reduce strain on your healing lids and eye surface.

  • Position the monitor slightly below eye level
  • Avoid strong air conditioning blowing directly at your face
  • Keep glasses lenses clean for clear, comfortable vision
  • Take frequent breaks from intense close work in the first weeks
  • Mention ongoing strain at your follow-up appointment
