Computer use is usually possible within a few days of ectropion surgery. Early tearing and surface sensitivity can make screens tiring, so gradual return is wise.
Using screens comfortably
The healing lid and eye surface may be easily irritated. Adjusting your workstation helps reduce strain.
- Start with short periods of screen time and increase with comfort.
- Use larger text and good contrast.
- Keep the monitor slightly below eye level to reduce exposure.
- Apply lubricating drops regularly to manage dryness or watering.
- Avoid strong air conditioning or fans blowing directly at your face.
Supporting the healing surface
Good habits protect the eye while allowing productive work. Overdoing screen time too early can aggravate symptoms.
- Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes frequently.
- Use ointment at night if your surgeon recommends it.
- Do not rub or pull on the eyelid.
- Discuss persistent strain or blur with your surgeon or optometrist.
- Consider flexible hours or extra breaks during the first weeks.
