Swimming after brow lift surgery should be avoided for several weeks because water and sun exposure can irritate wounds and affect scars.
Early precautions around water
In the first phase, incisions and surrounding tissues are vulnerable. Keeping them dry and clean supports healing.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the sea initially
- Do not put your head under water until you are fully cleared
- Protect the face from splashes during bathing and hair washing
- Use prescribed ointments and follow scar-care advice
- Contact the clinic if redness, discharge, or pain follow accidental splashing
Returning to the pool safely
Once your surgeon is satisfied with healing, swimming can be reintroduced gradually with protection.
- Check the advised waiting time, often several weeks or longer
- Start with short, gentle swims in a clean, well-maintained pool
- Wear goggles to keep chlorinated water away from the eyes
- Use high-factor sunscreen and hats to protect scars when outdoors
- Seek advice if pain, swelling, or wound changes occur after swimming
