Swimming after a three snip procedure should be avoided for a while because water can irritate the wound and increase infection risk.
Avoiding early water exposure
In the first weeks, the small opening at the inner eyelid is delicate. Keeping the area dry helps healing.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the sea initially
- Do not open your eyes under water until fully cleared
- Protect the operated area from splashes during bathing
- Use prescribed drops to support healing and comfort
- Contact the clinic if redness or discharge develops after accidental splashing
Returning to swimming safely
Once your clinician is happy with healing, swimming can be reintroduced gradually with protection.
- Check the recommended waiting time, often several weeks
- Start with short sessions in a clean, well-maintained pool
- Wear well-fitting goggles to keep water away from the eye
- Avoid very hot pools and saunas at first
- Seek advice if pain or blurred vision appear after swimming
