You can usually shower soon after entropion surgery, but you should keep soap and water away from the eye at first.
First few days of washing
In the early phase, protecting the stitches and eye surface is most important. Gentle habits lower the risk of irritation or infection.
- Shower with your back to the water and eyes closed
- Avoid direct spray onto the operated side of your face
- Do not rub the eyelid if it gets wet
- Pat the skin around the eye dry with a clean towel
- Avoid eye makeup until your surgeon says it is safe
Returning to normal routines
As swelling and tenderness settle, you can gradually relax these precautions. Your clinic will guide you on timing.
- Usually, normal showering is possible after about one week
- Continue to avoid vigorous rubbing of the eyelids
- Ask about when you can safely wash your hair at a salon basin
- Delay swimming pools and hot tubs until fully cleared
- Contact the clinic if redness, discharge, or pain increase after washing
