Can I shower after brow lift surgery?

< 1 min read

You can usually shower carefully soon after brow lift surgery, but you must protect the forehead, scalp incisions, and eyes from direct water and rubbing.

Taking care in the early days

The brow and scalp are delicate and bruised. Gentle washing keeps you comfortable while lowering infection risk.

  • Shower with your back to the water and avoid direct spray on the face
  • Keep your eyes closed and do not rub the brows or incisions
  • Pat the skin and hairline dry with a clean towel
  • Avoid very hot showers that may increase bleeding or swelling
  • Do not use hair dye or harsh products until your surgeon agrees

Returning to normal washing

As swelling and tenderness settle, you can gradually relax these precautions. Follow your team’s advice about stitches and scar care.

  • Normal, gentle showering is often possible after about one week
  • Continue to avoid vigorous rubbing of the forehead for longer
  • Use mild shampoo and skincare products on healed areas
  • Delay swimming pools and hot tubs until fully cleared
  • Contact the clinic if redness, discharge, or pain increase after showering
