Exercise after PRESBYOND can usually resume gradually, with light activity early on and more vigorous or risky sports introduced later. Protecting the eyes from sweat, impact, and contamination is key.
Light Activity
Gentle movement is often encouraged soon after surgery.
- Walking and easy stretching are usually fine within a day or two, if you feel comfortable.
- Avoid heavy sweating dripping into the eyes; use a clean headband if needed.
- Do not rub your eyes during or after exercise, even if they feel itchy.
- Use lubricating drops before and after workouts if dryness is noticeable.
Strenuous and Contact Sports
Higher‑impact exercise needs more caution.
- Running, gym sessions, and non‑contact sports are often restarted after several days, guided by your surgeon.
- Contact sports, racquet sports, and activities with risk of eye impact may be delayed for a few weeks and require protective eyewear.
- Swimming and water sports follow separate, usually stricter, timing recommendations.
- Stop and seek advice if exercise triggers pain, redness, or a sudden change in vision.
