When is PRESBYOND surgery not recommended?

< 1 min read

PRESBYOND is not recommended when corneal, lens, or retinal health, systemic factors, or expectations make the risk-benefit balance unfavourable.

Ocular reasons to avoid PRESBYOND

These conditions typically exclude blended‑vision laser.

  • Thin, irregular, or ectatic corneas (for example keratoconus)
  • Unstable prescription or suspicious topography
  • Early or established cataracts or significant macular disease
  • Advanced glaucoma or poorly controlled ocular hypertension
  • Severe dry eye or autoimmune‑related ocular surface disease

Other situations where it is inadvisable

Health and preferences also matter.

  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or poorly controlled systemic illness
  • Highly risk‑averse patients or those demanding “perfect” vision
  • People content with spectacles or contact lenses experiencing little inconvenience
  • Inability to attend follow‑up visits or follow aftercare instructions
  • Better candidacy for lens replacement, ICL, or non‑surgical options
