Vision after eyelid surgery usually stabilises within a few weeks, although ointment, swelling, and dryness can cause short-term blur.
Early visual changes
In the first days, puffy lids and protective ointments can make it harder to open the eyes fully. This often leads to temporary blur or mild double vision.
- Blur is commonly worse in the evenings or when you are tired
- Lubricating drops and gels help if the eyes feel gritty
- Reading and screens may be tiring at first
- Report sudden dark shadows, strong pain, or major vision loss urgently
- Most people can still manage basic tasks with care
Longer-term stability
As swelling reduces and lid position settles, vision usually feels clear and reliable again.
- Many people feel vision is stable by around two to four weeks
- Occasional dryness or watering can still cause minor fluctuations
- Glasses prescriptions rarely need immediate change
- Arrange a routine eye test once healing is complete if vision seems different
- Seek review if blur or double vision persist or worsen
