Computer use after orbital decompression surgery

< 1 min read

Computer use after orbital decompression surgery is often possible within one to two weeks, but double vision, swelling, and dryness can make screens tiring.

Getting back to screens

Start with short sessions once pain is manageable and vision reasonably clear. Extra breaks are important while your eyes adapt.

  • Begin with brief periods, then build up as comfort allows
  • Use lubricating drops regularly during screen use
  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes
  • Increase font size and adjust brightness to reduce effort
  • Use an eye patch or temporary prism if double vision bothers you

Protecting healing eyes at work

Good workstation habits reduce strain on healing tissues and supporting muscles.

  • Position the monitor slightly below eye level
  • Avoid strong air conditioning blowing directly at your face
  • Keep glasses lenses clean for clearer, more comfortable vision
  • Pause work if pain, pressure, or double vision increase
  • Discuss ongoing difficulties at each follow-up visit
