Vision after blepharoplasty often feels blurry or strange at first because of swelling, ointment, and temporary dryness. For most people, sight stabilises over one to four weeks as the eyelids settle.
Early visual changes
Swollen lids and ointment can partly cover the eye surface. This may alter how light enters the eye or smear the tear film.
- Reading and close work may be difficult in the first few days.
- Dry eye symptoms such as grittiness or watering can blur vision.
- Double vision is uncommon but should be reported urgently.
- Your glasses prescription usually remains the same.
- Lubricating drops or ointment improve comfort and clarity.
Longer-term clarity
As swelling and bruising fade, vision usually returns to your previous baseline or better. Any persistent change should be discussed with your surgeon or ophthalmologist.
- Most patients feel their vision is stable by around a month.
- Improved lid position may expand your field of view, especially upwards.
- Report ongoing blur, shadowing, or eye strain at review visits.
- Routine eye tests can refine glasses once healing is complete.
- Good lubrication and lid hygiene support long-term comfort.
