When does vision stabilise after YAG vitreolysis?

< 1 min read

Vision after YAG vitreolysis usually settles over several days to a few weeks. Early on, you may notice temporary blur or new floaters as the eye clears debris.

First days after treatment

Immediately after the procedure, the vitreous can be slightly disturbed. Light scatter from tiny particles may make vision feel hazy.

  • Most people see improvement in clarity within a few days.
  • Some floaters may persist but move out of the central line of sight.
  • Lubricating drops can help if eyes feel dry or tired.
  • Follow-up visits check retinal health and pressure.
  • Rarely, additional sessions are needed for best results.

Longer-term visual outcome

By about four to six weeks, vision is usually stable. Residual floaters are common but often much less intrusive than before.

  • Discuss any ongoing visual disturbances with your specialist.
  • Sudden increase in floaters, flashes, or shadows needs urgent review.
  • Regular eye examinations remain important for overall retinal health.
  • Some people prefer to live with mild floaters once serious causes are excluded.
  • Low-vision strategies, such as adjusting lighting, can still be useful.
