YAG capsulotomy recovery

YAG capsulotomy is a quick laser procedure to clear cloudy capsule after cataract surgery. Recovery is usually rapid but some temporary visual changes are normal.

Immediately after treatment

The laser makes a small opening in the cloudy capsule behind the lens implant. Vision often looks misty or filled with tiny streaks of light at first.

Your eye pressure may be checked shortly after the procedure. Drops might be given to reduce inflammation or pressure.

First few days

Most people notice clearer vision within hours or days. Mild symptoms can occur while the eye settles.

  • Floaters or specks moving across the vision
  • Slight light sensitivity
  • Mild ache or headache around the treated eye
  • Need to avoid rubbing or pressing on the eye
