Pinguecula removal aims to ease irritation or cosmetic concern from a small yellow bump on the white of the eye. Recovery involves settling of redness and restoring a smooth comfortable surface.
What is it
A pinguecula is a local thickening of conjunctival tissue often linked to sun and wind exposure. When drops are not enough surgery can gently remove the raised area.
After surgery the conjunctiva needs time to heal and can look raw at first. Drops help control inflammation and support healing.
Healing process
Redness and watering are common for the first week or two. The eye may feel gritty or slightly sore especially in bright light.
- Regular lubricating drops to keep the surface moist
- Short course of anti inflammatory or antibiotic drops
- Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs until cleared
- Do not rub or squeeze the eye while it heals
