Conjunctival naevus removal takes away a pigmented patch on the eye surface for diagnosis or comfort. Recovery focuses on healing the delicate conjunctiva while keeping the eye protected.

What is it

A conjunctival naevus is a freckle like collection of pigment cells on the white of the eye. Surgeons may remove it if there are changes in size colour or appearance or for cosmetic reasons.

After excision the surface is sometimes reconstructed with a small graft. This helps the eye look smooth again as it heals.

What to expect after surgery

The eye usually appears red and slightly swollen for one to two weeks. Vision may be mildly blurred by ointment or surface irritation.
