Most light housework is safe soon after ICL surgery, but heavier or dusty chores should wait until your surgeon confirms that the eye pressure and lens position are stable. Protecting the eye from knocks and irritants is crucial in the early phase.
Light Chores
Everyday tasks are usually acceptable within a day or two.
- Simple cooking, washing up, and light tidying are often fine as long as you feel steady and comfortable.
- Take care to avoid splashes of detergent, hot oil, or cleaning sprays near the eyes.
- Use lubricating drops if your eyes feel dry during prolonged close work.
- Build in regular breaks while vision is still settling.
Heavier Cleaning and DIY
Higher‑risk activities should be delayed.
- Vacuuming, deep cleaning, gardening, and DIY can expose your eyes to dust or strain and are usually postponed for at least a week or as advised.
- When you restart, consider protective glasses and, for very dusty jobs, a mask as well.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes if they feel gritty; use drops instead.
- Seek review if housework triggers pain, redness, or sudden blurring.
