What prescriptions are suitable for PRESBYOND surgery?

< 1 min read

PRESBYOND is designed for presbyopic patients with low to moderate myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism within standard laser correction ranges.

Typical refractive ranges

Exact limits vary by platform and corneal thickness.

  • Myopia generally up to around -8 dioptres
  • Hyperopia commonly up to around +4 dioptres
  • Astigmatism usually up to about 3 dioptres
  • Combined spherical and cylindrical error must leave adequate residual stromal thickness
  • Prescription should be stable over at least 12-24 months

When prescriptions may not be suitable

High or irregular errors need alternatives.

  • Very high myopia or hyperopia requiring excessive tissue removal
  • Irregular astigmatism or keratoconus, where laser could worsen shape
  • Eyes better served by ICL or lens replacement due to extreme prescriptions
  • Rapidly changing or unstable refraction
  • Comprehensive corneal mapping is essential before deciding
