Some fluctuation in vision is common after eye surgery, especially in the first few weeks.
Normal reasons for changing vision
Healing tissues, temporary swelling, and dry eye can all cause sight to vary. You may notice clearer vision at some times of day than others.
- Ointments and drops can blur vision for a short while
- Dryness often causes hazy vision that improves after blinking
- Swelling usually settles gradually, improving clarity
- Early refraction may change before stabilising
When fluctuating vision needs checking
Sudden, dramatic change or a new shadow is not typical and should be reviewed. Prompt assessment ensures no underlying problem is missed.
- Contact your clinic if vision worsens instead of slowly improving
- Report flashes, floaters, or a curtain across sight urgently
- Use prescribed lubricants regularly if advised
- Delay updating glasses until your surgeon confirms stability
