Return to work after selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)

< 1 min read

Many people return to work the day after SLT. The best timing depends on how your eye feels, your job demands, and travel needs.

Office and light duties

Desk-based work is usually possible quite soon. Planning a gentle first day helps you adjust while any mild irritation settles.

  • Vision may feel slightly hazy on the treatment day.
  • Short screen sessions with frequent breaks reduce strain.
  • Use lubricating drops regularly to ease dryness.
  • Good lighting and larger fonts are helpful initially.
  • Check that your sight is clear enough before driving to work.

Physical and outdoor roles

More strenuous work may require a brief pause. Protecting the eye from dust, sweat, and impact is the main priority.

  • Avoid heavy lifting, contact tasks, or very dusty environments for a day or two.
  • Wear protective eyewear if your job involves flying particles.
  • Discuss specific safety requirements with your eye specialist in advance.
  • Seek review if work triggers significant pain or blurred vision.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments around your work commitments.
