Light exercise is usually safe soon after YAG laser capsulotomy. Most people can walk the same day, but higher-intensity workouts should wait briefly.
Early activity
For the first twenty-four hours, focus on gentle movement. This gives the eye time to settle following the laser and drops.
- Walking and light stretching are normally fine.
- Avoid bending or straining if your eye feels sore or pressured.
- Do not rub your eye during or after activity.
- Use sunglasses outdoors if light sensitivity persists.
- Keep well hydrated, especially when using pressure-lowering drops.
Building back to full exercise
Most people resume usual routines within a few days. Your clinician may individualise advice if you have other eye conditions.
- Increase intensity gradually and monitor for new floaters or blur.
- Contact sports or heavy lifting may need an extra day or two of caution.
- Wear protective eyewear in risky environments.
- Stop and seek urgent help if you notice a dark curtain or sudden vision loss.
- Discuss specific sporting goals at your follow-up visit.
