Chorioretinitis is inflammation of the retina and underlying choroid. It can result from infections, autoimmune disease, or inflammatory disorders.
Causes and symptoms
Lesions may be solitary or multiple and can affect one or both eyes.

- Infectious causes such as toxoplasmosis, TB, syphilis, or viral disease
- Association with systemic autoimmune conditions like sarcoidosis
- Characteristic yellow-white retinal lesions with vitreous cells
Treatment
Management depends on the underlying cause and severity.
- Targeted antimicrobial therapy for infectious cases
- Steroids or immunosuppressants for non-infectious inflammation
- Regular imaging with OCT and fundus photos to monitor response
- Low-vision support if permanent scarring involves the macula
