# Can I shower after lower blepharoplasty surgery?

Careful showering is usually allowed a day or two after lower blepharoplasty. Keeping the incision areas clean yet relatively dry helps them heal smoothly.

## Showering safely early on

The lower lids and cheeks may feel tender and bruised. Gentle techniques avoid disturbing stitches or internal incisions.

- Face away from the shower stream and avoid direct spray on your face.
- Use a flannel to clean around, but not directly over, incision lines.
- Do not rub or pick at scabs or stitches.
- Pat the area dry carefully with a soft towel.
- Follow any instructions about keeping tapes or dressings dry.

## Resuming normal washing routines

As healing progresses, washing becomes easier. Your surgeon will advise when you can wash your face more normally.

- Gentle cleansing with mild soap is usually permitted after about a week.
- Avoid very hot, steamy showers that may increase swelling.
- Reapply ointments or drops after washing as directed.
- Seek review if you notice redness, discharge, or wound separation.
- Good hygiene supports neat scars and comfortable lids.
